My immediate response was "that's stinks". As you admitted, you did not entirely explain the procedure to your wife. I'm not so sure I'd want to be towed on my bike by another bike - doesn't sound too safe to me. I'm sure being a new rider this made her rather nervous anyway.
My husband wanted me to get a Harley to start with and I told him that I would feel much more comfortable on the Savage (besides, I didn't really like the feel of the new Sportster), and perhaps someday I will work my way up to a Dyna, then again perhaps not.
Tell your wife she only has 8,000 miles to go!
